Anonymous asked: Wow you have a scorecard now? I like it :D

Yup. I decided to revise and revamp the way we score music. Ratings and written content should see a closer correlation from now on.

I like to think that I run a unique Kpop music reviews site and I’m hoping this further strengthens the brand of McRoth’s Residence :)

drewzu asked: So you're young, attractive and I presume disease free. What am I supposed to do for K-pop reviews when you go off and live a sexy, cool life somewhere?

If the blog continues to grow in its readership, which it’s doing a lot of this year, and if that readership remains loyal and motivating, I won’t leave you.

Reviewing can be (and has been) an entertaining hobby. Ideally, it would be the greatest incentive to do this long-term if the blog was big enough that its existence mattered to the audience at large, i.e., it turned into a business. Is it a risk worth taking? Most likely, yes. Am I ready to take that risk? Not yet.

For now, I am here and still operating.

[Review] [Album] Junsu - “Tarantallegra”

Considering the fact that so many of you wouldn’t shut the eff up about this album – my continuous promising and postponements of posting it didn’t help – you have left me with no alternative than to bust out a ginormous review for you, right here and right now. I will serve you track-by-track realness and you’re going to eat it raw and your scroll bar will weep like a little biotch, because this thing is going to be equivalent to a gigantic veiny boner. Are you gagging yet?

—–

Junsu‘s “Tarantallegra” album is as mind-numbingly amazing and exquisitely confusing as its title. I don’t know how much sense that makes as a descriptor, but I’m hoping it’s effective because I felt all kinds of mixed emotions as I listened to this thing. A week later, I’m still quivering in anxiety.

Tarantallegra is by no means perfect, regardless of how amazing of a singer I think Junsu is. It’s important to state this in advance, because Junsu is one of K-pop’s most highly revered singers, not just by me, but by the global K-pop fandom and Korean professional critics errwhere. The fact that he’s immensely talented goes without saying at this point, however, I do believe that even the most talented people shouldn’t be easily rewarded with praise, because there is always room to grow. And where there’s room to grow there is room for mistakes to manifest in one form or another.

So, were there any of these mistakes crawling about in Tarantallegra, or is it as brilliant as we had expected it to be?

Let’s find out.

[Review] [Single] B.A.P – “Power”

The boys of B.A.P have found their niche in the music scene. So far, with their title tracks “Warrior” and “Power,” they’ve managed to find their own distinctive style. For rookies, they can carry their songs exceptionally well, which makes their performances all the more enjoyable. Because no matter how great the song is, if you can’t make it your own, then it’s somewhat of a flop…

-

I had listened to the track before I watched the MV, and admittedly, I didn’t quite like it because it felt like it lacked the “umph” factor.  But then that bomb of a MV happened…

The MV Definitely conveys the “power” of the song — aggressive and strong. It’s amazing. Nothing much to complain about except for the water-splashing scenes…they feel rather extra, as they don’t connect with the rest of the MV. I believe they were added for the sake of “fangirls love seeing me wet.” I admit that water plus hot men is super sexy, but those scenes didn’t deliver; I did not have an urge to jump on them.Maybe the scenes are too short for me to truly appreciate their oozing sexiness

Now to the spray cans – why are they dancing with them? For all I know, they weren’t shooting an AXE commercial… Can someone please answer this mind boggling question?!
